16 days remaining

Well, here we are rapidly approaching the end of our first year of homeschooling.  We have 16 school days remaining plus a few days of formalizing our records of our multitude of field trips.  We've done a lot this year and it has been wonderful.  While we are looking forward to a break from "school" we are really looking forward to starting up again with the new curriculum on the flip side.  Things aren't completely finalized yet, but there will be quite a few adjustments to make it more suitable for where we are now that we are "experienced".  Megan will continue on her language arts tract with ABeka, but pretty much everything else will be changing.  We are all very excited about it!!!!  We are also excited about going to the homeschool conference in Houston in early June.  There is one in Baton Rouge, but it is twice as expensive and does not list the vendors that will be there.  Houston's does and has all of the companies that we want to see.  Perhaps next year we will try out Baton Rouge's.

We've taken some time off in the last week to spend some wonderful time with family and have done even more field trips.  We went to Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site which was fabulous - we wish we could have spent several more hours there, but we got a late start (including a "detour" on the way there) so everyone was tired and hungry.  We will definitely be going back.  We also did a private bayou tour with Vermilionville with two great guides.  We learned about history, how the landscape has developed, culture, and fluid dynamics.
