Home Stretch

Well, this Texas part of the journey is rapidly coming to an end. Its the last few days in Houston as Houstonians. Starting on Thursday, we'll be Cajuns and we'll start creating our new normal. There were no tears from the kids on the trip to Houston this time since we'll only be here 3 nights. After so many car trips, I think they are glad that after Thursday they get a few weeks off from being strapped into their car seats for hours on end. They are very excited to be going on this adventure both into homeschooling & a different location. We are gradually learning more about the state and as we learn more, many of the "oddities" of it being different are making sense. Living in Texas for the last 28 years has made Texas normal to us, though it has its own "oddities" to make sense of.

The new house needs lots of work, but piece by piece we will get it done. We have to...right? Its livable now for a few days at a time, but even with that limited use for me, it is driving me nuts. The pantry is the first on the list - a girl's gotta know where the good stuff is for the stress eating that is sure to continue for a little bit! I really can't imagine doing this move before cell phones & e-mail and the like! How did our parent's do it??? Crazy stuff. I just want to fast forward about 6 months and be done with all the so-new-its-painful stuff, but alas, I guess cheating like that won't build character! Until then, we'll take it day by day and eventually it won't seem as overwhelming as it currently is.
