What a fun week!!! It started out with the homeschool planning meeting going well and then went up from there. Maddie is still on cloud 9 about her riding lesson going so well this week (and the fact that we finally got started after months of talking about it). The weather has stayed really nice the last half of the week so we have been outside a lot playing and getting caught up on cleaning the back porch and weeding. Mom is feeling much better!!! I hate weeds, but I hate the heat even more! You know it is hot when even the kids don't want to go out and play so I don't feel like too much of a wimp. Today, the kids enjoyed a great visit at the Children's Museum of Acadiana, lunch at Chick-Fil-A, and back home to finish the school day. Its been fun! The CMA was full of all sorts of things to learn from and play with. Children learn best from playing and CMA truly takes that to heart. There was an Egyptian exibit, bank, a doll with removable organs, grocery store, restaurant, bubble station, ambulance, map station, veterinary/doctor/health area, and several others that we had fun with. Meme, JG, Jennie, Ian, Emory, and Kay went with us to the museum so its was lots of fun to play with everyone and learn. The girls both say that the thing they learned most from was seeing the inside of the ambulance. They both spent the most time in the grocery store which has been a favorite of both Maddie & Meg when they were younger. From what I saw, they learned a little bit at every exhibit and also already knew a bit. Such a neat thing to be able to have enough mastery of something to truly understand it, yet not have it mastered, so more exposure takes you one step closer to that mastering. Homeschooling rocks! We are really enjoying it! Penmanship seems to be the hardest thing for both girls, which is pretty much what I was expecting. Even that they are really handling well. Well, 'til next time!
