This is one of the old posts from February that we got so busy after I typed the draft that I never posted it. Without further ado, let's have a ride in the time machine.
So, here we are, pursuing the buy-out and jumping through all of the ridiculous hoops and almost done that mess and we find out tonight that a couple is working on an offer and we'll likely have an offer coming tomorrow. ROLLER COASTER!!!!!
So first to catch you up, after no movement on the house, we decided that enough was enough and started the buyout process which entailed a home inspection. The inspector was very complimentary to Matt about the upkeep of the house (the inspector was a male chauvinist if I ever saw one). However, once the report came out, he was anything but complimentary. He cited small things that we then had to have specialists come out and say aren't anything. LOTS of specialists. All have said that the inspector was too overzealous and sent us on a wild goose chase, but the only alternative we have to jumping through the hoops is to not which would mean no buy-out. So, we have laced up our shoes and are hopping away. We have a second opinion for the A/C coming tomorrow (warranty company that may cover some of the work) and then just waiting however long for the environmental study to finish. The rest of the specialists (termite, rodent, structural engineer, plumber/electrician/roofer) have all done their thing.
So, now, all of that may be for naught or may end up paying off in a big way depending on how this offer comes in. We get a bonus if we are able to sell it so we know what our floor price is and have some wiggle room to just get it done. I was completely not ready to move in November/December when Matt started his new job, but now I am SOOOOOOOO ready. I am so DONE with this selling side.
On the plus side, the purchase side is almost completely done. I think we are just waiting for the paperwork to be processed. We have some repairs that will need to be done, but contractors will be taking care of that with our realtor there, Deanna, working out the logistics of all of that. It is a beautiful home on 1.66 acres so plenty of room to roam and enjoy our little slice of heaven.
With a different house, it lends itself well for a different routine and Boutte Academy feel. We aren't changing things drastically, but taking the opportunity to do some different things that may work better for us. If the changes end up not working, we always know a way that worked. It just feels like it works OK, but not perfect so we'll tweak some things and see.
